Caelum rubbed Becky’s back, the memories he had just relived so fresh in his mind. It had felt like he was there again, his skin still chilled from the wind off of the water.
“It wasn’t too long before you wound up in the hospital, was it, Dove?” Caelum asked gently.
Becky bit her lip, a look of concentration on her face before she shook her head, releasing her lower lip as she did so.
“No, not at all.”
“Maybe something you felt that night was part of it? I mean, did you feel anything… off.. different?”
Caelum didn’t know if he was on the right track or if Alexander merely had grown bored with Becky and decided to mind wipe her and ditch her. It was truly hard to tell how a demonic son of a bitch like that thought.
Becky had the date she had first been hospitalised for her “accident” that had lead to the coma that had kept her in hospital all those months before she woke. It was not long from the night she had met Caelum for their date to then. Less than two months.
“I felt a lot different. You, your brought out something more of myself when I was around you and it caused a pain in my head. A pain that flared when I thought of being with you, of a future with you and when I thought of Fee. It almost overwhelmed me a couple of times but I had powers that allowed me to keep the pain hidden behind a wall.”
“Perhaps the collapse of the wall caused the coma?” Jenora suggested.
“It’s possible,” Becky stopped seeing how upset Caelum looked at the thought that he might have caused her pain. “I do not think it a bad thing, I think maybe whatever was going on with me meeting you that it was trying to undo what Alexander had done to me. Which is a good thing, if you knew who Rebecca really was, Zena was, you would not have liked her at all.”
